Abstract
284,626. Gaiser, C., Jan. 31, 1928. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 2, 1928]. Cases; electrodes.-A cell consisting of flat positive and negative electrodes e, g which with a frame b enclose a space to receive electrolyte, is provided with one or more filling openings c. The cell is surrounded by a layer a of oiled, paraffined or varnished paper or textile &c fabric which has apertures d exposing portions of the electrodes for contact purposes or joining a number of cells in series. These exposed portions may be roughened or provided with ridges, nodules &c. to improve the contact. The paper &c. cover a is provided with tabs q which after the introduction of the electrolyte into the cell are sealed down and cover the openings c. The electrolyte may be in the form of paste and may be contained in a tube having a flat, pointed, round or other nozzle to fit into the openings c. The electrodes may be of manganese dioxide and zinc. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a modification shown in Fig. 3 (Cancelled) in which the zinc electrode g is hollow and collapsable, the electrolyte being contained in a glass &c. receptacle l within the electrode. The latter is provided with openings to allow the electrolyte to escape when the electrode is collapsed and the receptacle l broken. The zinc electrode may consist of a number of superposed layers. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 8086/90, 22339/91, 123,582, 136,026, and 168,944.
