Abstract

Diaphragms; magnetic instruments. - The conical diaphragm 1 of a hornless loud-speaker is made of paper or fibrous material provided with spaced circumferential rings or corrugations 9 formed in the main body of the core itself so as to give it additional rigidity and substantially eliminate circumferential parasitic vibrations. The corrugations are preferably spaced apart a distance of from “-inch to ¢-inch and have a radius of approximately <1>/16 to “ of an inch. The cone shown has an angle at its apex of approximately 105‹ and a diameter at its base of approximately 7 inches. The base of the cone is provided with a flange 6 cut along radial lines 7 to provide a series of tabs 8, which form a flexible support for the diaphragm. A thin metal spider 3 is cemented to the apex of the cone, which is connected by a drive rod 5 to an armature 4. Specifications 206,518, 245,810, and 248,433 are referred to.
