Abstract

Diaphragms; loud-speakers; magnetic instruments; condenser telephones and other electrostatic instruments. - A sound reproducing or recording instrument, more particularly a loudspeaker, is provided with a disc diaphragm 2, secured at its periphery to the casing 1, and a paper &c. hollow truncated sound-radiating cone or equivalent member 3, the smaller end of which is secured to the diaphragm 2 along an annular region of the latter that is inset from the outer periphery of the free vibratory position thereof. The diaphragm and cone are preferably secured as shown by means of an annular metal flange 4. The truncated cone may be formed of three sections 5, 6, 7 as shown in Fig. 2. The diaphragm 2 may form the armature of a moving armature type of instrument, be actuated by a moving coil, or from one of the, electrodes of a condenser.
