Abstract

266,555. Rickets, W. J. April 8, 1926. Diaphragms; loudspeakers; magnetic instruments.-A conical or other diaphragm 1 of a sound-reproducing or transmitting apparatus is held between normally balanced springs 3, 5 or the like acting in opposite directions which support the diaphragm and allow it to vibrate axially. Points on the periphery 2 of the diaphragm are connected to helical springs connected to a rigid frame 4 and the centre 7 of the diaphragm is connected to an axially arranged spring also connected to. the frame. Alternatively, the periphery is connected to the alternate crests of a long helical spring bent into waves, or to an axially extended rubber ring. The centre of the diaphragm is connected to an armature 8 or coil which is actuated by, or sets up, currents in an electromagnet 9.
