Abstract

283,505. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Jan. 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Condensation water, collecting and draining.- An annular partition member 8, with an upturned lip 7, is arranged outside the moving blades 4 of a low-pressure turbine to catch the water particles. The particles enter the drainage chamber 9 at the channel 5. The particles may be secured in a slot 10 in the base of the fixed blading 1, and by a stay member 11. It may have a lip at both sides. The corner at the base of the drainage chamber may be recessed and rounded as at 16, Fig. 4. The partition may be carried completely round the blade rings, or may be left open at the bottom, Fig. 2, holes being provided in the casing 3 for draining by gravity. The stay members 11 may be flexible to avoid jamming when fouled by the moving blades. In the case of unshrouded blading, the partition is carried completely round the casing.
