Building blocks, special shapes of.-Hollow blocks for cavity walls consist of one or more units the height h of which, Fig. 5, equals twice the length or breadth plus a mortar-space, the length and breadth being equal. In blocks of more than one unit the length e' only is varied and is given by the formula l<1> = x (l + f)-f, x being the number of units, l the length of a unit, and f the thickness of a mortar space. The axes of the hollow spaces coincide with the vertical axes of the units composing the blocks. The cavities may be closed.
