Abstract
283,056. Wallis, H. C., and Robinson, K. A. June 2, 1927. Capsules and like closures.-In closures for bottles and other containers comprising a closing element and a metallic securing band having its two ends secured together by a tongue and slot connection, such as that described in Specification 257,860, to form a ring, the tongue having an enlarged head 1 and a reduced neck 2, the hole or slot 3 has its width reduced at one or more places to less than the width of the tongue neck to adapt the band for use with containers of different size or for different closure elements on the same container. The lateral dimension of the tongue head is greater than the maximum width of the hole and less than its length so that the ends of the strip have to be twisted preparatory to the insertion of the head in the hole. The head is engaged with either the end or a waist portion of the hole.
