Abstract

555,252. Packing; wrappers; casings for bottles. SMITH & SONS, Ltd., D., and ORGAN, J. W. July 7, 1942, No. 9421. [Classes 94 (i), 94 (ii) and 125 (i)] A protective sleeve for bottles comprises a blank 1 of strip material adapted to be applied to two opposite sides and the bottom of the bottle, the blank being provided near one end with a hole to engage the neck while the two ends are provided with means whereby they can be connected together. The hole to engage the bottle neck is formed by cutting the blank to form a tongue 3 which engages a slot 1c in the other end of the blank to connect the ends. The width of the slot is narrower than the tongue which is folded for insertion through the slit and afterwards opened out.
