Abstract
282,845. Redler, A. July 29, 1926. Endless-chain push-plate conveyers; pushplates, construction of; driving-gear; cleaning and clearing, modified for.-In an endless chain conveyer the marginal surfaces of the links and the cross-bars are chamfered to prevent material reposing thereon. The edges of each link a are chamfered as at n, Fig. 4, and one end b of the links is forked, Fig. 2. Circular holes e, g are formed in each end of the link and are cut away to form key-hole slots f, h at right angles to each other. Each cross-bar comprises a bar i, Fig. 6, preferably of the cross-section shown in Fig. 7, and cylindrical ends k of the same diameter as the holes e, g. In each end is mounted a stud l having a square head m which can enter the slots f, h. The chain is assambled by placing the solid end of a link within the forked end of another link, turning the .links until the slots are in alignment, inserting an end k until the head m is within the solid end, and then moving the links into alignment in which position the bar cannot be withdrawn. As the cross-bar can be reversed, it may be used either for digging into the material or floating on it. Alternate crossbars may be arranged with the bevels forward and rearward. The driving sprocket has two sets of teeth o, Fig. 11, each tooth of which is bifurcated at p and has front and rear faces of unequal lengths. The contact surfaces of the teeth may be recessed at q. Specifications 159,236, [Class 59, Grinding, crushing, &c.] 169.262, 225,028; 243,552. [Class 59, Grinding, crushing, &c.] ; 243,770, 244,693 and 263,501 are referred to.
