1,102,742. Conveyer driving apparatus. K. GREBE. 19 May, 1965, No. 21209/65. Heading B8A. An endless chain attachment for driving or braking an endless conveyer belt by engagement with abutments 10, Fig. 1, on the belt, comprises a pair of co-operating jaws 8, 8<SP>1</SP> for loose engagement with the abutments 10 and which are supported between links 3 of a pair of parallel chains 2 and have a controlled lostmotion to delay engagement with individual abutment 10 while the links are running on the driving sprockets. Each of the jaws 8, 8<SP>1</SP> has a rectangular projection 9 for engagement in an elongated slot 4 of each link 3, and each pair is interconnected by a link 11 through pins 12 whereby the jaws are brought together over the straight portions of the chain run.
