Abstract

282,065. Electrolux, Ltd., (Assignees of Munters, C. G.). Dec. 8, 1926, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, absorption systems for.-Apparatus working on the reversing system and comprising a generator-absorber 12 and condenserevaporator 13 is provided with two closed pipe systems 35, 36 and 40, 41, containing a volatile medium such as ammonia, methyl chloride or sulphur dioxide, undergoing evaporation and condensation for condensing the refrigerant indirectly by the atmosphere and conveying the cold due to evaporation to the space 11 to be cooled. The generator-absorber and the condenserevaporator are connected by a single flow and return pipe 32 which may be provided with gills 33 forming an air-cooled rectifier. The pipes 35, 36 and 40, 41 may be coiled to increase their surfaces. During the generating period the pipe system 35, 36 only is effective, the part 35 serving as evaporator and the part 36 as condenser, while during the absorbing period only the pipe system 40, 41 is in action. The vessel 13 is surrounded by insulation 34. The generator-absorber may have fluted walls and is surrounded by a heatinsulated jacket 18. It has a central open passage 15 and may be heated by a gas burner 20. The heating period is controlled by a thermostatic element 28 in the liquid space of the generatorabsorber connected to the chamber of a diaphragm 25 acting on the spindle of the burner supply valve 23 against the action of a spring 30 to cut off the supply at the upper limit of temperature. The generator-absorber may be cooled during the absorption period by air, or by a water spray or water coil. In the latter case the water supply valve may be actuated by the thermostat. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also apparatus as above duplicated to provide continuous refrigeration. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
