Abstract

281,174. Rose, A. G., and Rose Bros. (Gainsborough), Ltd. May 23, 1927. Paper and like bags.- A method of folding and closing the end of a bag, package, &c. of square or rectangular shape consists in first folding two oppositely - disposed side portions 1, 2 of the bag &c. material which projects above the surface of the contents towards each other down and on to that surface in such a manner that a terminal section 4, 5 of each portion occupies a plane perpendicular to that surface and about midway between the edges 6, 7 thereof corresponding to the folded sides. The top part of the sections 4, 5 is then folded down on the lower part forming a quadruple thickness which is folded down in the same direction on the surface of the folded material 2, Fig. 4. The first folding of the side portions 1, 2 forms triangular tabs 8, 9 which extend in the same plane as the folded portions 1, 2. These tabs are next folded inwards in succession, forming the packet shown in Fig. 7. The folded portions may be secured by adhesive or material impregnated or coated with wax may be used, the wax being first heated and then cooled to secure the folds.
