Abstract
168,531. Davis, C. Sept. 27, 1920. Packing containers.-Relates to a package of the type described in Specification 162,197 comprising a number of boxes removably secured to a wrapper, and consists in connecting the boxes to the wrapper by means of projectures or flaps, either on the wrapper or on the boxes, which are inserted into the boxes or in apertures in the wrapper, respectively. The wrapper 1 may be of paper, cardboard, or of other suitable material, and the projectures 2 may be formed integrally with the wrapper or pasted thereto. They may be formed on either edge of the wrapper or may be cut out of or attached to the face. In use, each flap is bent at right-angles and inserted through an aperture in the container or inserted in the folds of the side. The package may then be folded as shown in Fig. 5 around the container 3 and secured by inserting tabs 5 into slits 6. Another tab 7 may be provided to facilitate unwrapping. The containers may be secured to the wrapper in various ways, the flaps being formed accordingly. For instance, as shown in Fig. 17, they may be set on edge and so spaced that when the wrapper is folded about the horizontal central container, the containers on one side are sandwiched with those of the other.
