Locks, permutation. - In a security device for a petrol or other tap or cock i the body h of the tap in which the plug works is provided with a gapped ring k and a rotatable plugoperating cover j carrying a number of rota,table elements l (three shown) which, when the tap is closed, occupy the gaps in ring k, and prevent rotation of the plug, unless the elements m are adjusted to predetermined positions in which notches in the elements allow them to pass the segments of the ring. The cap may engage the body by bayonet lugs m so positioned that the cap, the rotary movement of which may be limited bv a screw, not shown, cannot be disconnected when the tap is in the closed position.
