Exhaust silencers.-The silencer comprises a tube a over which is arranged a cylindrical expansion chamber b brazed or welded to the tube. At approximately the centre of the expansion chamber, the tube has an outlet opening and a baffle c obtained by partly severing the tube by a sawcut and forcing down the metal on each side. Beyond the baffle, perforations f are provided for the re-entry of the exhaust gases from the expansion chamber. The outlet end e may be chamfered to deflect the gases from the wheel of a motor cycle. In a modification. the perforations f are replaced by a second opening and baffle, the latter being in the reverse direction to the baffle c.
