Laminated springs.-In a vehicle suspension system of the kind in which the spring is arranged between members adapted to shorten its effective length both during compression and on the rebound a spring of uniform cross section is arranged inside a rigid structure of girder, lattice or box pattern. One end of the spring d, Fig. 2, is clamped in a rigid structure e having upper and lower walls against which the spring bears. A sleeve of rubber, leather or other material closes the open end of the rigid structure. In a modification, one leaf is clamped to the axle and a second leaf is slidably clamped to the first leaf at the axle end. The underside of the frame may form one side of the rigid structure. Two quarter elliptic springs may be arranged on opposite sides of the axle. Leaves of triangular or other section may be used above or in conjunction with the usual flat leaves as shown in Fig. 9. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a construction shown in Fig. 10 (Cancelled) in which the rigid structure is replaced by the underside of the vehicle frame k and by a bent bar e. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification a,s accepted.
