Abstract
279,671. Imray, O. Y., (Bartelstone, L.). Dec. 21, 1926. Transparencies; compound sheets.-Two sheets of glass are cemented to a sheet of celluloid, cellulose acetate or the like to make a splinterless transparent sheet for wind shields, port windows, eyeglasses, &c., by means of a film of a non-solvent such as castor oil or linseed oil, applied to the celluloid. The glass sheets when applied to the celluloid are subjected to a pressure of 100 lbs. to 400 lbs. per square inch and a temperature of 228‹ F. to 240‹ F. for 5 to 20 minutes. The pressure is applied first at the centre so that excess of oil is expelled. The glass is preferablv first coated with a thin film of celluloid applied in solution and thoroughly dried. The oil may be chemically pure or substantially free from other ingredients.
