Abstract
279,307. Kenney, M. A. Feb. 21, 1927. Landing-places and launching ways.-A tiltable and rotatable platform for landing aeroplanes has a uniformly honeycombed deck, and a base 6 which is so shaped and apertured that the wind currents acting thereon induce a down draught through the deck to assist the aeroplane in landing. The base 6 is convex longitudinally and transversely and has a series of apertures 8. The deck is formed of longitudinal spaced slats mounted on cross members and at its raised end comprises a net. The base 6 finishes in front of the entrance end of the platform and a deflector 9 is provided to produce an up-current of air so that the aeroplane will not be subjected to disturbed air conditions before landing. Means may be employed in the platform to increase the air-currents. An adjustable air deflector 10 may be provided. Longitudinal guide-cables and speed-retarding means may be provided on the deck.
