Abstract

278,935. Marks, E. C. R., (A.C. Spark Plug Co.). Jan. 24, 1927. Density separators. -An air cleaner has a cylindrical casing with an annular entry at one end occupied by vanes 8 to give a whirling motion to the air. The edges of the vanes are rounded and the blades are curved in the direction of their length as shown in Fig. 3. The central part of the casing end is occupied by a cone-shaped shield 12 to which the vanes are secured. An outlet tube 20 for cleansed air projects through the centre of the opposite end of the casing and slots 18 at the periphery permit the discharge of dust-laden air. An air straightening device 24 is secured to the tube 20 by a pin 22 and to the shield 12 by a bolt 26 thereby clamping the whole apparatus. The shield 12 prevents air from passing directly to the outlet from the inlet.
