278,875. Kilpatrick, E. W. R. Oct. 1, 1926. Brakes, arrangement and disposition of ; guarding against wrong movements, -Means for preventing unintentional backward movement comprise a clutch member B fixed on, or connected by, a spring coupling G to the driving shaft A, a stationary member C carrying normally-retracted sliding dogs E, automatic means for projecting the sliding dogs into engagement with dogs D on the shaft member B when the vehicle starts to run back, and further means for positively retracting the sliding dogs when the gear lever is moved to the reverse position. The dogs E are projected by springs g and are held back in the inactive position when required by a sliding collar H and bell-crank levers p pivoted to a fixed plate K and connected to a sliding collar P which is operated by the gear lever when the gears are moved to the reverse position.
