Abstract

In a change-speed control for a motor vehicle wherein a ratio shift electric motor 3 drives a crank 1 connected to a shift lever 6 through a worm and wheel reduction gear 2, a clutchbrake mechanism 4 connects the motor 3 to the worm 18 during ratio shift and on completion of the shift disengages the clutch and brakes the worm 18. A shaft 30 of the worm 18 carries an axially slidable clutch-brake disc 21 which is normally biased by a spring 25 into engagement with a brake surface 27 on a housing 4. During ratio shift an electromagnet 28 connected in parallel with the electric motor 3 is energized and acts through a rod 20 and pin 22 to move the disc 21 into engagement with a clutch disc 23 on the motor shaft 24.
