Lawn-mowers.-In lawn - mowers comprising rotary knives co-operating with a fixed knife, the rotary knives are each arranged to be resilient in a radial direction, the fixed knife being either resiliently or rigidly arranged. In Fig. 1 the fixed blade 1 is attached to a pivoted holder 2 engaging an adjustable screw 6 and provided with a leaf spring 4 engaging another adjustable screw 5. The blade 1 is arranged to be pressed down by the rotary knives 7, which may be helical and arranged so that one does not lose contact with the blade 1 until the next makes contact with it, A bent tongue 11 may project from one or both ends of the blade 1 to ensure smooth engagement of the knives 7 with the blade 1. The spring 4 may be dispensed with and the blade 1 made thin and resilient. The tongue 11 may then be replaced by a bevelled surface or a bend at the corner of the blade 1. The rotary knives 7 are flexible and may be provided with a bevelled surface or bend at one end. They consist of thin steel laminµ mounted on arms as shown so as to be resilient in a radial direction.
