Abstract

Grandulating.-In the granulating of molten slag the slag passes from a slag runner 1 into a trough 2 where it meets a very small stream of water 3 the granulation being effected partly by the water but mainly by the steam generated. The surplus water is drained from the trough by slots 6 passing to a trough 7 and the granular product is broken up and carried away by one or more blasts 5 of air, gas, or steam under pressure issuing from an upwardly inclined nozzle 4.
