Abstract

276,443. Nuss, M. May 29, 1926. Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-In a gas-fired kiln or furnace having a combustion chamber located between the burner and firing-chamber the combustion chamber 3, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, is substantially pear-shape in cross section in a plane containing the axis of the burner 1, 1<a>, and substantially fan-shape in cross section in a plane containing the axis of the burner and at right angles to the first mentioned plane. The fuel and air supply pipes of the burner 1, 1<a> have flattened nozzles and are protected by the overhanging portions 6 of the refractory block 11 in the combustion chamber 3 is arranged. The outlet 4 of the combustion chamber is in the form of a slot. In a modification the outlet of the combustion chamber may be bent to deliver horizontally. The combustion chambers may deliver tangentially, as shown at 10, Fig. 4, into an annular secondary combustion chamber 13 provided if desired with a reflecting cone 9.
