Bulbs for use in pendent reflectors 2 are arched inwardly at the bottom 4, and this arched surface is formed as a convex reflector adapted to throw light on to the reflector 2, and an annular surface 6 adjacent the arched bottom is frosted or otherwise treated to diffuse light. The reflecting surface may be formed on or attached to the surface 4.
