Abstract

275,545. Pratt & Whitney Co., (Assignees of Hoagland, F. 0.). Aug. 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Wheels.-An abrading-wheel having segmental abrasive blocks separately mounted, consists of a ring 10 secured to a driving spindle 12 and having a flange 15 of slightly conical shape. On the inner face of the flange bearing members 15 are mounted. two for each abrasive block 17, by means of screws 18 which allow of adjustment, but not removal, of the members. The blocks 17 are held by two series of plates 20, 26 held by screws 21 passing through abutments 22 on the flange 15; the lower plates 20 have bearing members 24 to engage the blocks, and the plates 26 have projections 27 for that purpose. When the blocks are worn, they are removed and replaced after screwing the plates 26 outwards, so that the upper ends of the blocks, when these are replaced, bear against the plates 26, being held in position by the plates 20.
