Vertical boilers.-In a boiler having a cylindrical shell A and rectangular firebox B with crossing rows of inclined water tubes T, the shell and the firebox are secured to a bottom plate P having a rectangular opening corresponding to the shape of the firebox so that the boiler may be mounted over a waste-heat flue or furnace K. Deflecting plates A<3> are fitted above the two uptake sides of the firebox to prevent priming.
