Boxes formed from special blanks; handles; covers.-In a box of tubular form with end closing flaps, two of the flaps 11, 13 on opposite sides of one end of the box are provided with elongated finger openings 29, 30 formed by partly stamping out tongues 22, 25 therefrom. When the box is closed the flaps lie upon one another with the tongues lying flat and closing the openings 29, 30 and the uppermost flap 13 is held secure by a strip pasted over its free edge and the side 2 of the box; when the box is to be carried the securing strip is torn away and the flaps 11, 13 are raised so that their free edges abut and the tongues 22, 25 are pushed in on their hinge lines 24, 26 respectively to abut and with the tops 31 of the flaps 11, 13 form a braced triangular handle-grip as shown. The scoring line 15<1> separating the flap 13 from the side 4 is offset from the similar scoring lines 15 of the other closing flaps by an amount equal to the thickness of the cartboard so that the flap 13 will be flat on the flap 11 when closed down. The box is preferably made of corrugated cardboard in which case the corrugations give the handlegrip extra rigidity. In two modifications the flaps 11, 13 do not each entirely cover the end of the box and the portions containing the openings and tongues are provided with scored lines so that they may be bent up out of the plane of the other portions of the flaps when forming the handle, and in one of these modifications the handle is arranged so as to extend only partly across the length of the flaps; the flaps are secured together by a pasted strip and by other strips placed over the corners where the edges of the flaps meet the sides of the box.
