Abstract

273,771. Cousinard, A. July 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Stud-and-socket fastenings; catches, spring.- A motor car door is secured by a stud entering a conical socket in which it is engaged by pivoted catches, release being effected by a push-andpull spindle. The stud 4 is carried by a plate 1 mounted on the door. A spindle 31 passes through the door and has a shank 15 and head 29 working in the stud 4 on the inside and a handle 32 on the outside. A pair of hook-like catches 5, 6, are pivoted in the stud and their hooks 24 protrude through openings in the stud so that when the stud is forced into the socket member, a member 22 rides over the stud and is engaged by the hooks, Fig. 3. Release is effected by moving the spindle 31 axially by the handle 32 or head 29, shoulders 13, 14 on the shank 15 engaging the tails of the hook-levers and rocking them out of engagement with member 22. A sliding bolt 38 can be pushed inwards to prevent actuation. The member 22 carries a pair of rubber buffers 27. Instead of operating the spindle 31 from the inside by the head 29, a lever 47, Fig. 5, may be employed, to prevent accidental release. The lever when rocked, moves a rod 44 rocking a lever 40 on its pivot 43 and causing its finger 41 to move the spindle 31 axially. A pivoted member 49<a> permits operation in its mid position, but prevents operation when turned up or down.
