Abstract

273,232. Andis, M. June 26, 1926, [Convention date]. Machines with unwound iron armatures; cores. -In electric motors for horse clippers &c. of the type in which an unwound iron armature rotates between the poles of a field-magnet the circuit of which is periodically broken, the field magnet 10 is of elongated shape as shown in Fig. 3, and the armature is formed with a central portion 17 and arcuate pole-pieces 18, 19 extending in the direction of rotation. When the central portion 17 of the armature is between the poles of the field magnet the circuit is broken by a cam 27, Fig. 2, on the motor spindle 16 operating a lever 23 carrying a contact 37 against the action of a spring 29. The spring bears against a stud 50 carried by a lever 43 actuated by a thumb-piece 47 and by moving the stud the tension of the spring may be adjusted, or the contacts allowed to separate and the motor thus stopped. The thumb-piece 47 also carries a pawl 48, Fig. 4, by means of which a ratchet wheel on the spindle 16 can be rotated and the motor started. Specification 273,231, [Class 131, Toilet &c.], is referred to.
