Abstract

424,044. Oscillating motors. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES., 1, Hofstrasse, Zug, Switzerland. June 25, 1934, No. 18681. Convention date, July 13, 1933. [Class 35] In an oscillatory armature electric motor operating with an alternating current supply, the armature 3 is a permanent magnet formed of a substance of high coercive force, e.g. cobalt steel and is adapted to oscillate at the frequency of the supply. The armature spindle 7 is secured to one end of a restoring spring 4, the other end of which is clamped to the stator 1 at 5. The spindle has a reduced portion 8 carrying freely a pinion 9 having on each side a hub of the same diameter as the adjacent portion of the spindle. A spring 10 coiled on one hub and the spindle transmits movement in one direction to the pinion 9 and a second spring 11 coiled on the other hub and secured at one end to the bearing plate 12 prevents backward rotation of the pinion. The motor is suitable for driving clock winding mechanism.
