Abstract

Interconnecting guard with starting-gear.-In guards for textile machinery, a hinged cover a, shown guarding the gears driving the draw rolls &c. of a comber doubler or lap machine, is rigid with a hinge-pin a<2>, which turns in bearings b and carries a mutilated disc or cam c, coacting with a lug d on the sliding belt-fork rod e. The lug d is further supported by a rod d<1>, slidable through one, of the brackets carrying the rod e, which gears by rack teeth e<3> with pinions f on two upright shafts f<1>, operated by anns f<2> and the usual stop rods (not shown). A finger g on one shaft f<1> interlocks with a catch h, pivoted on the cover a and co-operating with a fixed part k. When the driving-belt is on the fast pulley, the lug d coacting with the flat c<1> on the disc c and the finger g obstructing the catch h prevent opening of the cover, while, when the machine is stopped, the rod e cannot be moved until the cover is shut.
