Abstract

590,180. Textile drawing frames. GIBSON, W. Aug. 11, 1944, No. 15307. [Class 120 (ii)] [Also. in Group XXIV] In a textile drawing frame, particularly of the Eves double crank push bar kind, having a gear casing at each side with a pair of sliding doors, movable to an overlapping open position, and a stopping and starting arrangement, e.g., a beltshifter, an arrangement of locking means is provided for the doors so that no door can be opened when the machine is being driven and the machine cannot be started while a door is open. The sliding doors 4, 5, at the side of the frame where the operating handle of the starting and stopping gear is situated, are locked closed by a bolt 8, under the control of the operator, and when the machine is to be stopped, the shaft 6 is turned so allowing the rod 10 to be depressed against the spring 12 and past a curved plate 14. Once the doors 4, 5 have been slidden open, the bolt 8 is locked by the upper edges of the doors which engage against a shoulder 16 of the bolt to prevent the machine from being restarted until the doors are slidden to the closed position again. A similar mechanism for the doors situated at the side of the frame where the belt-shifting fork is positioned, is also included. The back of the frame is furnished with a hinged flap 23 and a top plate 24. Upon breakage of a sliver, an automatic stop motion comes into action leaving the broken sliver on the top edge of the top plate for easy piecing. The hinged flap 23 is maintained closed, when the machine is running, by the co-operation of a pin 28 with a notched disc 26, the pin being carried by a pivoted lever 29. The tail 31 of the lever 29 co-operates with a recessed locking bar 32, slidable by the operation of the stop mechanism, so that while the machine is running, the flap 23 cannot be opened and when the flap 23 is open the machine cannot be restarted. Attached to the bar 32 is a latch plate 33 which, in the " door-closed " position, co-operates with a keeper 34 on the flap 23.
