Abstract
121,626. Domakin, J., and Gibbons, T. Nov. 26, 1917. Interconnecting guard with starting-gear.-A guard a for slubbing, intermediate, or roving frames, provided with openings d, e to clear the lifter chain and pulleys, cannot be removed whilst the machine is in motion, and when removed permits mechanism to lock automatically the starting rod to prevent the starting of the machine. The starting rod h, controlled by the lever m, carries an arm o, and a bent arm p having a slot p<1> adapted to be engaged by a bent lever q pivoted on the framing of the machine. When the parts are in the position shown in Fig. 1 with the belt fork i opposite the loose pulley k, a slot g in the guard is opposite the arm o and the guard may be lifted from the machine. When the guard is removed, the lever q, previously supported by the guard, falls into the slot p<1> thus locking the starting rod, and a catch s on the lever q falls under the arm p and holds the lever in the slot. When the guard is to be replaced, the catch. s is raised by hand, and the guard pushes the lever q out of the slot p<1> and frees the starting-rod. The arm o comes opposite a portion of the guard, and locks it in place, when the fork i is brought over the fast pulley j.
