Abstract

272,610. Smith, W. March 17, 1926. Coating.-In a, process for treating surfaces of metallic articles, &c., a coating of the sulphide of the metal forming the surface is produced by subjecting the heated articles, &c., to the action of carbon bisulphide. The articles, &c., if not having a film of oxide, are first subjected, at a temperature of above 600‹C., to the action of air for a few seconds and then with carbon bisulphide vapour for about 10 minutes when at a temperature of about 700 degrees C. Aluminium or magnesium articles or metals coated therewith may be treated by this process.
