Indicating-mechanism. - In a weighing apparatus having a gross, tare and net weight indicating device of the kind wherein one or more independent auxiliary pointers or indicating devices are provided in addition to the weight indicating pointer, the auxiliary indicating device or devices is or are disposed within the housing containing the weight indicating mechanism, the device or devices being rotatably mounted in bearings formed in or carried by the cover plate of the housing and having connection with an operating arm or arms disposed externally to the housing and adapted to coact with a flanged plate or plates secured to the housing whereby the auxiliary device or the chart can be maintained m any set position. In front of the usual weight indicating pointer 11<a>, Fig. 1, and pivotally mounted in concentric bearings upon the transparent cover plate 7 are two pointers 13, 19 for tare and gross respectively. The pointers 13, 19 may be rotated by external knobs 17, 22 connected by arms 15, 20 to the hubs of the pointers. The knobs may be clamped to flanged plates or discs 9, 14 by giving a twist to the knobs. The flanged disc 9 is fixed but the flanged disc 14 is secured to the hub of the tare pointer 13 so that when the knob 22 is clamped the pointers 13, 19 may be moved simultaneously by means of the knob 17 whereas the gross pointer 19 may be moved independently by clamping the knob 17 and unclamping the knob 22. In using the device after placing an empty container on the platform the gapped head 13<a> of the tare pointer is adjusted by means of the knob 17 to coincide with the weight pointer 11<a> and is clamped to the flanged disc 9. The gross pointer 19 is then set by means of the knob 22 to the desired gross weight and the material is added to the container until the pointer 11<a> coincides with the gross pointer. For subsequent weighings of the same net weight variation of the tare may be corrected for bv adjusting the pointers 13, 19 simultaneously by means of the knob 17. In a modification, the knob 17 carries a gear wheel which may be meshed with teeth on the flanged disc 9 to provide a fine adjustment for the tare pointer. In a further modification, Fig. 5, wherein the gross knob is dispensed with, the adjustment of the tare knob 23 sets a dial 32 which is graduated in the same manner as the weight dial 33. The tare dial is arranged in the same plane as the weight dial but is separated therefrom by an annular space within which the end 35 of the weight pointer travels. In use, the zero of the dial 32 is set to the tare weight as indicated by the pointer 35, and after filling the container the net and gross weights are indicated by the pointer upon the dials 32 and 33 respectively.
