Padlocks; cases for. - A padlock casing comprises two steel sheets stamped into a U- shape and pressed into hollow shells, which are secured together by two tightly-fitting caps 37. The bolt 3 has a slot engaged by an operating- arm 9 pivoted on a pin 8. A tumbler 12 mounted on a pivot 11 on the arm 9 has a hook 13 adapted to engage a pin 17 when the bolt is shot through the staple 6, a spring 15, 29 holding it in this position. The bolt is withdrawn by a key rotating the tumbler 12 and the arm 9, which has a depression 19 to receive the bit of the key in the unlocked position. In a modification using a flat key, the casing has two transverse walls, and in a further modification a number of slotted levers are used in addition to the tumbler 12 to secure the bolt in the locked position.
