Abstract

270,785. Wolverhampton Corrugated Iron Co., Ltd., and Jones, E. P. Feb. 4, 1926. Pickling.-In an apparatus for pickling metal sheets, etc.; the sheets, &c., are supported in cradles B carried by stirrups g depending from the longitudinal members G of a frame into the vat or vats A, containing the pickling liquor. The frame is oscillated by the engagement with pulleys or rollers H mounted on studs h in the cross-members G<1> of the frame of bars d mounted on opposite ends of a longitudinal rocking shaft D mounted between the vats A and operated by a crank F and a, connecting rod f secured to a crank pin f<1> on a rotating disc or crank f<2> driven from any source of power. The rocking frames are guided vertically by posts g<1> which pass through holes in the beams G<1>. The cradles B are made of open lattice work provided with trunnions b for the engagement therewith of the hooks K depending from the gantry M of an overhead travelling crane which move the cradles to and from the vats. An additional winch N may be provided on the crane and is fitted with hooks n to engage eyes or shackles b<1> at the bottom of the cradles B for the purpose of tippling the latter to remove the pickled plates therefrom.
