453,880. Cleaning metals. RIDLEY, A. E., Glyncoed, Alban Road, Llanelly, Carmarthenshire. March 21, 1935, No. 8813. [Class 82 (ii)] In a method of pickling, cleaning, swilling or washing metal plates &c., the latter remain stationary whilst jerky impulses are imparted to the medium by which the plates are being treated by a pulsator or pulsators located exteriorly of the vat or vats. In one form cradles 5 are suspended above vats 9 by cables 4 passing over pulleys 2 and connected to the rod 7 of a piston in a steam-cylinder 8, the pulleys being carried by brackets 3 secured to a column 1. The pulsator 10 is operated by cranks 11, or by cams, eccentrics &c., and is connected to the vats by pipes 10<a>. The impulses may be delivered vertically, horizontally or diagonally of the vat.
