Abstract
483,138. Removing noxious fumes. BAUML, F. Oct. 14, 1937, No. 28016. [Class 8 (ii)] A method for removing noxious fumes, e.g. acid vapours in a metal pickling and brass dipping plant, consists in blowing the acid vapours into exhaust passages 9, 10 by means of air jets from nozzles 6, directed across the surface of the liquid in the acid vats 3 and in the rinsing troughs. Water is supplied to the troughs by pipes 8, and the air is supplied through a pipe 6<1> by means of a water jet injector 26, the injector water escaping by a siphon 27. The waste water is carried away by a pipe 9, while the fumes are removed by conduits 10, 12, 11. The pipe 11 leads to a sinuous condensation pipe 13, in which the acid is washed out by water jets, the remaining fumes escaping to the exterior. Water is drained from the bends 16 of the pipes 13 by pipes 17, 18, escape of fumes being prevented by means of traps 19. The bends 16 are provided with doors 24 for cleaning.
