Abstract

270,616. Haddan, R., (Oliver Continuous Filter Co.). June 11, 1926. Filters having sheet filtering-materials. - Tubular filter elements arranged for inward filtration and from which the separated matter is removed by the periodic introduction of gas under pressure, as described in Specification 270,108, are connected in sets by pipes 23 to the casing 24 of a rotary valve., which connects each set succussively to vacuum and a source of gas under pressure. The casing 24 has apertures for the connection of the pipes 23, of a pipe 27 leading to a vacuum, and of a pipe 26 from the source of pressure. The pipes 27, 26 connect respectively with circular passages 34, 33 in the casing, and each of the pipes 23 is connected to the passage 33 through a plug valve 30. All the pipes 23 except one are in communication with the.passage 34 through a port 36 on the plug 35, but a longitudinal projection 350 on the plug closes, as it rotates, the end of each of the pipes 23 successively. As it does so a pin 35<1> on the plug contacts with the handle 31 of the corresponding valve 30 and gas under pressure is delivered from the passage 33 to the pipe 23 from which the vacuum has been shut off.
