457,832. Filters. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION, Ltd., Aldwych House, Aldwych, London, HARLOW, W. F., Derwent, Castle Hill, Duffield, near Derby, and GOODWIN, F. G., 31, Nunsfield Drive, Alvaston, Derby. June 11, 1935, No. 16843. [Class 46] Each peripheral compartment 1 of a rotary drum filter has a base plate 3 provided with channels which run obliquely to the axis of the drum as shown in Fig. 3. The channels may be formed by corrugations in the plate and all the plates are fixed to plates 4 and to end rings 6. The compartments are separated by bars 7 and between these bars and the plates 3 are longitudinal channels having perforations 14 which open below into drain channels 12 leading to segmental chambers connected by pipes 15 to a trunnion valve for supplying air under pressure or creating a vacuum in the compartments 1. The filter cloth rests on the corrugations of the.plates 3 and may be protected and held in position by a surrounding wire. The drum is divided by a ring 10 and the construction described above is duplicated on the other side of the ring.
