Abstract

Set-off, preventing; bronzing and the like. - Manifold, copies are dried by appyling talc powder thereto by means of a device which is rolled by hand over a sheet-support 3 and spreads powder over the sheet when moved to the left and sweeps the powder into a receptacle 1 on the return stroke. The device comprises a powder-hopper 16 carried by a frame 12 mounted on pairs of rollers 6, 9, the powder being ejected through holes 17 by means of a helical row of feeding vanes 18 fixed on the axle 10 of the rollers 6. A frame 26 carrying a spreading-brush 30 and a wiper 31 is pivoted on the axle 10. and is swung over to the right in the forward stroke and to the left in the reverse stroke against a stop 19 in each case so as to move the members 30, 31 into operative positions in turn by means of a gear 21, which is driven from the shaft 10 and frictionally rotates an arm 23 engaging the sides of the frame 26.
