Inking - apparatus. -An inking - attachment which is especially applicable for addressing- machines of the kind in which stencil cards are employed is constructed with an ink-container 18, Fig. 3, mounted in a tray 17 carried by a lever 16 which can be moved to bring one or more wicks on the container into contact with one roller 33 of a series of ink-distributing rollers 33, 32, 31. The rollers 32, 33 are covered with felt, and absorb a certain amount of ink. These rollers are mounted in arms 30 pivoted at 29 to brackets 24 on the sides 1 of a magazine containing stencils 40, and the arms 30 can be held in a position away from or in contact with a segmental roller 9, which effects the printing in conjunction with a similar impression roller 12, by means of a cam on a sleeve 35 which can be rotated by a hand lever 37. This lever is set to lift the roller 31 cut of contact with roller 9 while a handle 39 is operated to rotate the rollers 33, 32, 31 to distribute a supply of ink thereover. For printing the roller 31 is moved into contact with roller 9 and by operation of a handle 8 on a shaft 6 the rollers 9, 12 are rotated to coact with a stencil which is automatically advanced by a slide operated from a shaft geared to the shaft 11 of roller 12, and an envelope which is advanced along a slide 4 by a hand-lever indicated diagrammatically at 5.
