Abstract

269,669. Shaw, J. L. Jan. 22, 1926. By semi-solid lubricants: preventing congelation.-In a ball or roller bearing in which grease is packed within the housing b, a perforated plate g is caused to move axially to anrl fro within the housing to break down any banked-up or congealed grease and bring it within the range of the bearing members. The plate is carried on the end of a rod k mounted in a member i by balls j, the members i being screwed in a plug k mounfed in the end cap c of the housing. By screwing the member into and out of the plug k, the disc g is moved to and fro in the housing. A similar disc g<1> arranged in the other end of the housing is of annular form, being carried by two or more rods mounted in screwed members. The device may be operated by hand or by automatic means.
