1 Claim.
This invention relates to an antifriction sucker rod guide which is attached to the string of sucker rods at spaced points for the purpose of.
providing a rolling and antifriction contact with the well tubing. This invention is particularly useful in oil wells where the hole is crooked.
An object of our invention is to provide a novel antifriction sucker rod guide having a plurality of protruding rollers adapted to engage the well tubing and including a novel journal for these rollers.
Another object of our invention is to provide a novel journal for the rollers of a sucker rod guide which can easily and quickly be removed for replacement purposes.
Still another object is to provide a novel journal of the character stated which is long lived and will therefore enable the rollers and wheel to, rotate at all times.
Other objects, advantages and features of invention may appear from the accompanying drawing, the subjoined detailed description and the appended claim.

Figure 5 is a partial transverse sectional view of a modified type of wheel roller.
Referring more particularly to the drawing the numeral l indicates an elongated body which is provided with threaded boxes 2 and 3 at each end thereof into which the sucker rods are threaded. The body is provided with a plurality of transverse slots 4 in each of which a roller or wheel 5 is mounted. The wheels '5 each protrude from the body 1 and are angularly spaced so that the tubing will be engaged by one or more of the wheels irrespective of the angle of tubing The wheels 5 are mounted in the body I in the following-manner. A bore 6 is drilled through the body and intersects the slot 4. 3 The bore 6 is drilledto acurately fit a journal pin 1, the pin 7 is pressed tightly into the bore 6 and is nondiscs I0, II are mounted on the pin 1 substantially as shown in Figure 4. The wheel 5 is journaled on the disc II), II and is held against lateral movement by the flanges of these discs.
The distance between the disc flanges is slightly greater than the width of the wheel 5 so these discs can be tightly pressed together and thus nonerotatably held without interfering with the rotation of the wheel. The discslll, ll are held against rotation in the slot 4 by the head 9 of the pin 1 which presses against one of the discs and forces these discs against the side wall of the slot 4 when the set screw 8 is tightly screwed against the head of the pin. To remove the pin 1,
the set screw 8 is removed and a punch is then for the balls I4, the outer race being the wheel I2 or a separate race pressed into the wheel. The inner race it is held stationary by the pin! which enters the bore l5. The head of the pin 1 engages one side of said race, being pressed against one wall of a slot 4.
Having described our invention, we claim:
In an antifriction sucker rod guide, a body having a pocket formed therein and opening through one side of the body, said body being also formed with a transverse bore intersecting the pocket in spaced relation to the ends thereof and having a threaded portion at one side of the pocket and an unthreaded portion at the other side of the pocket, a roller mounted in said pocket and having a portion thereof projecting outwardly therefrom, said roller having a central opening, journal discs extending into said opening from opposite sides thereof with the inner ends of said discs abutting and having at their outer ends annular flanges overlying the side faces of the roller out of binding engagement therewith, a pin passing through said discs centrally thereof and havingone end projecting for engagement with the unthreaded portion of the aforesaid bore, a head on the other end of said pin seated in the threaded portion of the bore, and a plug threaded into the threaded portion of the bore and engaging the head of said pin to hold the pin in place and maintain the discs in abutting engagement with each other.
