Plug couplings and connectors. - In order to prevent accidental short-circuiting of battery cells a, Fig. 3, the socket terminals d of said cells are surrounded by insulating sleeves e of vulcanite &c. which project beyond the upper edge thereof. The usual cover of the battery is formed with holes through which the encased terminals project, and, to prevent the entry of dust into the sockets, the holes are adapted to be covered by rotatable closing plates. In a modification, Fig. 4, the sockets d', with their insulating sleeve e, are arranged in a circle in the cover so that they can be tapped by a switch arm i mounted there. on.
