Abstract

268,107. Smith, J. A. Spencer-. Feb. 25, 1926. Vulcanizing- moulds. - A nest of moulds for vulcanizing a number of tyres comprises top and bottom plates 9, 9<a> and a number of intermediate plates 12 shaped to receive the tyre walls, between each pair of which are disposed a treadring 2, and an inner split ring 3, 4 held together by bolts 5 in slots 6, or the like. The bolts may have upset heads 8 to prevent the nuts 7 from being entirely removed. The plates 12 may be made in two parts permanently connected together, to enable steam passages to be formed in them. If desired, the nest may be modified to enable tyres of different sizes to be vulcanized at the same time.
