Locking-catches.-A locking.device for water cocks, as for instance those used in the moistening arrangements for yarns, comprises two chambers a, b mounted to rotate with a locking-member p, so that when a lever h is thrown over to operate the valve the lever is engaged by the locking-member p and prevented from being turned back until a sufficient quantity of fluid, e.g. mercury, has flowed from one chamber to the other to release the lever h. The passage c connecting the two chambers a, b can be regulated by a screw to vary the time of release. The tops of the two chambers are connected by a venting pipe k.
