Abstract

267,455. Engers, A. Jan. 24, 1927. Seat compartments.-In a combined desk and' seat of the kind in which operating mechanism is provided by which vertical adjustment of the desk causes the seat to be raised or lowered along an inclined guideway, the vertical adjustment of the desk operates a cable &c. to adjust the seat simultaneously with and in the same sense as the desk. In the construction shown, the seat 21 is carried by a plate 18 slidably arranged upon inclined guides 19 and operated by cables &c. 16 when the height of the desk is adjusted. A pawl 30 prevents downward movement of the seat. The seat back 22 is carried by arms 23 slidable in fixed guideways 24 and connected to levers 25 passed through holes in the plate 18 and pivoted at 26 to the frame so that when the seat is raised the seat back 22 is moved upwardly and backwardly to increase the width of the seat.
